Chern’ee Sutton. Chern’ee is an award winning, modern indigenous artist from the Kalkadoon people around the Mount Isa area in Queensland.

This fabric design is Chern’ee Sutton’s interpretation of “Yuan Thirrin” which means in the Kalkadoon language “Big Fin”. The Kalkadoon people have a strong connection to the sea as they used to travel north to the gulf country to hunt and gather food and my painting depicts the gracefulness and the beauty of the whale.
